X-Out: Resurfaced from ININ Games, Ziggurat, and KRITZELKRATZ 3000 brings us a remastered take on the Rainbow Arts classic shoot ’em up. X-Out was originally released way back in 1989 for the Commodore 64, followed by several 1990 ports to the the Amiga, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC. It’s now 2025, and we’re getting a revamped experience that features redrawn art with high-resolution spites along with improved lighting and particle effects that help to bring everything to life for a new generation. Add a remixed synth soundtrack from Chris Hülsbeck – along with six new tracks – and you have a shoot ’em up entry that will keep you glued to the screen from start to finish. Will you be diving in on your own or will you bring a friend in local couch co-op?
You’ll be piloting your submarine by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad, firing your main weapon with the X button, and activating the secondary weapon with the Circle button. You can select the next secondary weapon by pressing the Triangle or L2 buttons. Select the previous secondary weapon by pressing the Square button. Speed down or up your submarine by pressing the L1 and R1 buttons, respectively. You can also take advantage of continuous fire by pressing the R2 button.
You can spend your Credits to choose your submarine, with your options being the Trilobite 1, Trilobite 2, and Trilobite 3. Each one will be increasingly more expensive but will have more weapons for you to consider. The Trilobite 1 has a double heat shot and a small missile. The Trilobite 2 has a double titanium shot, fire lighting, and a satellite vertical. As for the Trilobite 3, it features a double uranium shot, bouncing bombs, and a drone launcher. You can also use Credits to improve your cannons, primary, secondary, and automatic attacks, satellites, as well as additional upgrades. You can also purchase additional submarines.
The game features a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy waiting for you. The list is split into 13 Bronze trophies, 6 Silver trophies, and 7 Gold trophies. What are the objectives that you’ll have to complete in order to add that new shiny Platinum trophy to your collection? You’re going to have to beat levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, own 50,000 credits, max out ship equipment by having the best ship, best cannon, all secondaries, and full satellites, have 9 submarines in your fleet, destroy 5 bubble ships before they drop their bombs, defeat 12 enemies with a single smart bomb, get a highscore, activate a cheat code, beat a level in 2 player mode, defeat 10 enemies by diving into them, shoot down every submarine in levels 1 and 2, defeat 5 enemies with a single electric arc, deat a level with only satellites equipped, defeat 10 suns with the flamethrower, don’t get hit by any flying fish in levels 7 and 8, beat a stage without getting hit and with full life, beat the game in mirror mode, and get 22,500 points in stage 5.
