Looks Like PS5’s Neglected Activity Cards Feature Is Being Fixed

It looks like Sony’s finally making a move to fix PS5’s Activity Cards feature, which has been broken for quite some time now. We’ve written at length about the issue before, noting how Activity Cards have become almost useless since Sony removed the ‘Resume Activity’ function from them. While that function is unlikely to return, today’s PS5 system update suggests that Sony hasn’t forgotten about Activity Cards after all.

February 2025’s PS5 system update beta improves Activity Cards

‘Resume Activity’ was arguably the most useful function of Activity Cards, following the removal of which the feature was largely abandoned by Sony. Last December, I wrote about Activity Cards not working at all in some cases, and displaying incorrect information in others.

In the patch notes for today’s PS5 system software update beta — available by invite only — Sony writes:

  • We’ve made it simpler to view details about activities.
    • Activity details are now fully displayed on cards. Potential spoilers will still be hidden.

Ok, so ‘Resume Activity’ is probably gone for good like I suspected, but these patch notes suggest that those bugged, broken cards will actually work as intended now. I’m not holding my breath, and we won’t find out how well they work now until players test a large number of games. However, something is better than nothing.

As a reminder, Sony talked about Activity Cards quite a bit prior to the PS5’s launch, so it’s been a bit surprising to see the feature stay neglected for so long.
