Sony is continuing to block PC ports of PlayStation games in a large number of countries despite removing the controversial mandatory PSN sign in requirement. Following intense backlash, the company announced that it would no longer require players to use a PSN account on PC, but that they would be rewarded for doing so. However, all of its games remain blocked in countries where PSN isn’t available. The latest victim? Highly-anticipated upcoming game, Lost Soul Aside.
Stellar Blade fans concerned as Lost Soul Aside is the latest PlayStation game to be region blocked
As pointed out by players on ResetEra, the SteamDB entry for upcoming PlayStation-published Lost Soul Aside shows that the game is blocked in 130 countries, none of which have official PSN support. Additionally, despite PSN account now being optional, previously released PlayStation games continue to be region blocked in the same countries.
It beggars belief that Sony would release a game day-and-date on PC and not make it available in some PC markets, like the Philippines, Vietnam, etc. Steam players in these countries aren’t even able to access the store page for PlayStation games, let alone purchase them.
This move has left Stellar Blade fans concerned. If Sony chooses to publish the game on PC, there’s a chance players in 130 countries will be locked out of purchasing the title.
