Ori Developer Moon Studios Now “Fully Independent” After Securing No Rest For The Wicked Rights From Take-Two

Moon Studios, the development team behind the Ori franchise and more recently the early access title No Rest For The Wicked is now “fully independent” from any other game company, after securing the rights for No Rest For The Wicked from the game’s original publisher, the now shuttered Private Division which was owned by Take-Two.

In the studio’s latest Wicked Inside showcase, talking about everything new coming to No Rest For The Wicked, Moon Studios revealed right at the top that the studio was now entirely independent.

Moon Studios heads Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol explained that the road to independence is also part of what delayed the game’s latest content update, which it also showed off in today’s Wicked Inside showcase.

“After months of negotiations, we reached an agreement to buy the publishing rights for No Rest for the Wicked back, so that Moon Studios could become fully independent,” said Korol.

“This legal process took time, and we couldn’t say much while it was all happening,” he continued. “But today,” Mahler interjected, “we’re excited to announce that it’s all done, and that Moon Studios is now fully independent.”

No Rest For The Wicked is currently only available in early access on PC, but Moon Studios is working on a PlayStation version of the game that’ll be ready when it launches into its 1.0 version.
