Silent Hill f was finally, officially revealed during Konami’s latest Silent Hill Transmission showcase, which it only announced earlier this week. After hearing practically nothing about Silent Hill f since its first reveal in 2022, we now know where it’ll be set, a little bit about the story, and we’ve gotten our first proper trailer.
Unfortunately it looks to just be a CG-trailer, but Konami could always surprise us with gameplay that looks just as polished as what we’ve seen in this first trailer.
This is the first Silent Hill game to be set in 1960’s Japan, in a place called Ebisugaoka, inspired by a real torn in the Gero region in Japan. It focuses on a young school girl named Shimizu Hinako, whose life is turned into a nightmare when her hometown starts becoming something unrecognizable.
According to Motoi Okamoto, producer on Silent Hill f at Konami, the choice to set this game in Japan, and not in the town of Silent Hill, was because the team had begun to feel the series had lost some of the essence it had that made it a Japanese game. While the series has always been set in Japan, it had a certain Japanese flavour of horror that helped it stand out.
Bringing this game to Japan meant that the team could go all-in on making it a full Japanese horror game, while also keeping the thematic trademarks players have come to love from the franchise.
Extra keen fans can rush to their PS5’s and the PlayStation Store to wishlist the game, but we’re still in the dark as to when it’ll be out on consoles and PC platforms. Hopefully we’ll have a release date before the first half of this year is through.
