Control 2 Shouldn’t Miss its Window to Confirm One Major Alan Wake 2 Theory
As the Remedy Connected Universe continues to unfold, one major theory from Alan Wake 2 needs to be addressed in the story of Control 2.
Remedy Entertainment issued a new update for Alan Wake 2‘s PC version on January 30 to coincide with the launch of the RTX 50 Series graphics cards. The update most notably implements DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation in Alan Wake 2, which was confirmed in early January 2025 to be one of 75 games that will support the new Nvidia technology. According to Remedy, enabling DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation will allow PC users to ratchet up Alan Wake 2‘s graphics and ray tracing settings to the max and play the game at over 230fps at 4K on the new RTX 50 Series cards.
The perks aren’t solely limited to RTX 50 Series adopters either. Users of previous Nvidia RTX cards will also benefit from Alan Wake 2‘s DLSS 4 upgrade, with improved DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLAA tech. Alan Wake 2 is also the first game to include Nvidia’s RTX Mega Geometry tech for all RTX GPU users, which accelerates BVH construction to fit up to 100 times more ray-traced triangles and improve performance in heavily ray-traced scenes. Lastly, Remedy has expanded Alan Wake 2‘s impressive ray tracing suite with a new Ultra Ray Tracing preset, bringing fully ray-traced reflections, fully ray-traced transparent reflections, and higher-quality fully ray-traced indirect lighting.
Alan Wake 2 players can download the game’s newest PC update via the Epic Games Store. Those looking forward to a Steam release for the game, however, may just be left waiting for a very long time as Alan Wake 2 was recently confirmed to remain an Epic Games Store exclusive.
