Apple Arcade is getting brand new Katamari and Space Invaders games next month

Apple has revealed the games coming Apple Arcade next month, and the line-up will be of interest to Bandai Namco and Taito fans.

Katamari Damacy Rolling Live will be released on April 3. The game will be exclusive to Apple Arcade, and marks the first brand new Katamari game in nearly eight years.

As in previous games in the series, players are tasked by the King of All Cosmos to roll the sticky Katamari ball around, sticking increasingly larger objects to it to help it grow in size.

Also arriving on April 3 is Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, a sequel to 2009 shoot ’em up Space Invaders Infinity Gene. This too will be exclusive to Apple Arcade.

The game will feature more than 100 variations on Space Invaders gameplay, putting a modern twist on the Taito classic. “It may look retro at a glance, but the game evolves into a cutting-edge 3D shooter the more you play”, the game’s description reads. “Evolution grants more and more powerful ships and superior systems to give players of all abilities the edge.”

Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve is coming to Apple Arcade next month.

The third new game coming to Apple Arcade next month is Puffies, a puzzle game which “reimagines classic jigsaw puzzles with the nostalgic charm of puffy stickers”.

Joining the three new games are three ‘+’ versions of existing games – RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic+, The Game of Life 2+ and Sesame Street Mecha Builders+.

‘+’ versions of games on Apple Arcade are titles that are already available on the standard iOS App Store, but remove any monetisation present in those versions, be that an up-front price, in-game purchases or ads.

For example, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is currently on the App Store priced at $5.99, with further in-app purchases of $5.99 for a Tookit mode (for sharing creations), and two expansions for $1.99  each. The upcoming ‘+’ version on Apple Arcade is included as part of the Apple Arcade subscription, with all three add-ons included at no extra cost.

Last week two more ‘+’ versions of games were added to Apple Arcade – Piano Tiles 2+ and Crazy Eights: Card Games+.
