Internet sleuths have unearthed a presentation for a Japan Studio PSP game titled Stamp, which never saw the light of day. The game’s pitch and trailer was found and published online by the ObscureGamers group, and they describe Stamp as an action game for all ages.
Japan Studio’s canceled PSP game resembles LittleBigPlanet
Both the trailer and presentation can be found on Archive.org (via Reddit). The art and concept somewhat resemble LittleBigPlanet and LocoRoco, with the player referred to as “Stampie.”
Stampies would have to use PlayStation icons to rescue their family from ink-based enemy. Each PlayStation symbol would have a unique function in the game. For instance, square would be used to create, and triangle to destroy.
The now-defunct Japan Studio pitched potential DLC for Stamp as well, and had plans for multiplayer modes. Multiplayer modes would have included Survival and Whack-a-mole modes. There would also be a player-vs-player racing mode of sorts and co-op support.
Stamp’s single-player mode, which would have comprised of 20 stages, was targeting 10-15 hours of play time. Japan Studio had plans for three ad hoc stages as well.
Had Stamp gone according to plan, it would have gone gold around October 2010, followed by a simultaneous release worldwide.
