Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 director and Warhorse Studios co-founder Daniel Vávra has debunked rumors claiming the game’s pre-orders have dropped because of the recent backlash. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a direct sequel to the 2018 game of the same name and is due for release in February 2025. Players will follow protagonist Henry navigating the “turmoil of a civil war” during the Middle Ages, and the new installment will feature a world twice the size of its predecessor.
Vávra recently responded to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s backlash against the inclusion of LGBTQ scenes in the upcoming sequel. The game’s director acknowledged the online discourse and ongoing culture war over inclusivity and stated Warhorse didn’t want to be a part of it. The successor title is considered more inclusive than its predecessor, but Vávra confirmed the series’ authenticity was not compromised.

Posted on Twitter, Vávra shared two screenshots debunking the rumor that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 pre-orders had tanked. Vávra labeled the YouTuber a “grifter,” and confirmed the game’s pre-orders had not dropped with the sold and returned copies ratio remaining the same. Furthermore, Vávra highlighted waned preview hype and the arrival of nine “massively discounted” games in the chart as potential causes for a drop. In a separate Twitter thread posted a few days ago, Vávra discussed many “wild claims” relating to the sequel’s backlash, stating the Warhorse team didn’t want the game to become clickbait, and relayed it was “really sad” to witness the amount of hateful behavior circulating the release, which is doomed to “damage any cause associated with it.” Vávra also confirmed there are no “unskippable” cutscenes in the sequel, accusing anybody who said otherwise to be Kingdom Come: Deliverance beginners.
Furthermore, Vávra addressed recent reports that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 may be banned in Saudi Arabia because of the LGBTQ content, confirming the sequel was not banned in any country to the best of Warhorse’s knowledge. The director also reiterated the studio wasn’t forced to do certain things regarding inclusive content and assured players that they were in complete control of any relationship decisions.
