For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is beyond delighted to have the extraordinary pixel art of the very talented Octorebel. He participated in the fifth and sixth generations of Pokédex Ilustrada, the brilliant project organized by our dear friends from Ilustradoras Unidas.
Art has been a constant in his life — from drawing anime during his teenage years to taking art classes in college.
“Currently, my girlfriend is an illustrator and was my main motivation to get back into drawing after a long time of not doing it. She gave me the push I needed,” he said.
Our talented artist still vividly remembers his first-ever experience playing a Pokémon game.
“My beginning as a gamer in this franchise was Pokémon Gold. Exploring Johto was undoubtedly incredible. I’m very fond of that game. From that moment, the saga has never stopped accompanying me. Whether through their games or anime, you can always count on Pokémon when you need it,” Octorobel explained to the Pokémon Blog Team.
Creating Pokémon-related art has been an incredibly fun experience for him: “I think if I hadn’t enjoyed picking up the pencil or the iPad again, I never would have participated in Pokédex Ilustrada and in other Pokémon-related projects. I want to keep taking part in these kinds of activities, and I hope I’ll never abandon art in the future.”
Octorebel’s favorite Pokémon is the entire evolutionary line of Torchic, Combusken, and Blaziken.
“I can’t explain why, but from the moment I met that little chick in the Hoenn region, I fell in love with him, and he has been my companion every time I revisit that region. His colors, strength, and design make me always choose him,” he concluded.
