One of last year’s most critically acclaimed FPS games is released on Xbox today, and it’s also available on Game Pass.
Mullet MadJack is available to buy on the Xbox Store for $19.99 / £19.99, but subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass also have access to it from today as part of their library.
Players who are subscribed to the Xbox Game Pass Core or Standard tiers won’t get it, however, meaning they’ll have to buy it or wait to see if it eventually ends up on their tier at a future date.
Released in May 2024 for PC, Mullet MadJack is a first-person shooter inspired by ’80s and ’90s anime. Set in the year 2095, players take on the role of Jack Banhammer, a ‘moderator’ who has to get through each stage in just 10 seconds, killing all the evil Robillionaires he finds.
Jack can top up the timer by killing enemies, performing environmental finishing moves on them and getting drinks from vending machines, meaning players have to figure out the best route through each stage that will keep their timer ticking.
The game, which was developed by Brazilian studio Hammer95, was met with critical acclaim when it was released on PC, achieving a Metacritic score of 88 and an OpenCritic score of 100% recommendations.
“In this future, man and internet have merged into a new being, the game’s official description reads. “This being needs dopamine every 10 seconds, or else it will DIE! You are Mullet MadJack, and you must kill enemies to refill your 10 seconds of life.”
Mullet MadJack is the latest game to be released on Xbox Game Pass this month, with more likely to be confirmed for later in March. Already released on the service this month were Monster Train (Xbox Game Pass Standard, Ultimate and PC), One Lonely Outpost (Ultimate and PC) and Enter the Gungeon (Standard, Ultimate and PC).
On March 18, co-op action roguelike 33 Immortals will be released on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, in a Game Preview state.
