Next week, the beloved PlayStation franchise God of War celebrates its 20th anniversary. Beyond the event happening at the art gallery Nucleus, Santa Monica Studio is giving players a little gift to commemorate the impressive milestone. A new in-game update for God of War Ragnarok will introduce a collection of cosmetics inspired by a God of War 2 skin.
God of War Ragnarok update adds Dark Odyssey Collection inspired by GOW 2
Players may remember God of War 2 had a black and gold skin for Kratos if they endured the game on God Mode difficulty. Sony announced a cosmetic collection, called the Dark Odyssey Collection, is coming to God of War Ragnarok via a free update inspired by that God of War 2 skin. The update is expected to go live on Thursday, March 20 for both PlayStation platforms, and PC.
“As a gift to everyone who owns God of War Ragnarök, on March 20th we will be releasing an update for all players on PlayStation and PC that includes the Dark Odyssey collection at no additional cost,” says Lead Community Manager at Santa Monica Studio Grace Orlady. “Inspired by the working name of God of War (2005) and the skin that originally appeared in God of War II as a reward for beating the game on God Mode difficulty, we are bringing the classic black and gold theme for the 20th anniversary.”
To access the collection, players will simply have to visit any Lost Items chest in the base game or will obtain it automatically in Valhalla. Here is everything from the God of War Ragnarok Dark Odyssey Collection:
