Intergalactic Is About Religion Because TLOU2 Gets Hate

Naughty Dog has joked that it’s deliberately making PS5 game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet about subject matters that won’t get lots of hate like its last game, The Last of Us Part II. Creative head Neil Druckmann admitted that the studio made certain decisions in the past that proved to be very controversial.

Intergalactic PS5 touches upon subjects people ‘won’t care as much about’

In a video interview with 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland, Druckmann said that he often jokes with his team about making Intergalactic about topics people “won’t care as much about.”

“I joke about this with the team. [In] The Last of Us 2, we made certain creative decisions that got us a lot of hate,” Druckmann said. “A lot of people love it, but a lot of people hate that game.” When Garland replied with “who gives a s****,” Druckmann responded that this is precisely the joke.

“The joke is like, ‘you know what, let’s do something that people won’t care as much about.’ Let’s make a game about faith and religion,’” Druckmann added with sarcasm.

It’s an interesting chat, and given the politically-charged atmosphere around the world, we can only imagine how a story based on faith and religion will do.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is in development for the PS5.
