For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is ecstatic to display the beautiful artwork of Cyn, also known by her pseudonym cynainart. This fantastic artist participated in the fifth generation of Pokédex Ilustrada, organized by the dream team from Ilustradoras Unidas.
For Cyn, art is a very special and intimate medium that allows her to express her emotions and thoughts that she sometimes finds difficult to verbalize.
“Mood can greatly influence the outcome of an artwork, and that fascinates me because art reflects what we experience at different stages of our lives,” she explained.
Her relationship with the franchise is a longstanding one.
Pokémon has accompanied her since childhood and brings back memories of simpler times when she had fewer worries.
“The world this franchise has built through so many little creatures —which have only grown in number and variety of designs— is another thing that kept me attached to it over the years. Unintentionally, they also became an influence on my love for drawing in a more ‘animanga’ style,” she shared.
Drawing Pokémon-related art is “super gratifying” for Cyn because the love you have for something is “reflected in your work.”
“While doing something you are passionate about, you will dedicate twice the effort and love to it, just to feel completely happy with the result,” Cyn stated.
Lugia is her all-time favorite Pokémon.
“I love his simple and elegant design, as well as his lore. He was also one of the first Pokémon I learned to draw as a kid,” she concluded.
