Kingdom Hearts fans are discussing some of the series’ biggest unsolved mysteries, including who put the Dalmatians in treasure chests across Disney worlds, how Pete time-travelled, and a whole lot more.

As every Kingdom Hearts fan is more than aware of, keeping track of the series’ long-running and often-times confusing story can be quite the challenge. While it’s nowhere near as complicated as a lot of people make out (just play the games in release order!), there are still a ton of mysteries and unanswered questions that have yet to be resolved.

In Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories, A Mistranslation Changes Everything

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories recently had its 20th anniversary, but a key part of its story is still hidden behind a repeated mistranslation.

While that might sound frustrating, those big question marks are actually one of the great joys of Kingdom Hearts. Even if we’re all getting a bit of Gummi Ship cabin fever waiting for Kingdom Hearts 4, that hasn’t stopped fans from discussing some of their favourite unsolved mysteries that we’ll hopefully get an answer to in the future.

Kingdom Hearts Fans Share Their Favourite Unexplained Mysteries

The discussion regarding the most notable unresolved plotlines in Kingdom Hearts was started by Redditor Mintarion over on the game’s subreddit. To kick things off, Mintarion said that they really want to know who was putting the poor Dalmatian puppies in treasure chests across multiple different worlds in the first game.

That’s a good question, and one that’s never been given an official answer by Nomura. Another big question comes from Redditor Haxteal, who questioned how Pete was able to time-travel in Kingdom Hearts 2 to reach Timeless River. It’s never addressed in-game, leading some to theorise that Pete might have inadvertently used a version of the Power of Waking.

There are a ton of great examples of unexplained plot points within the thread, but one of my favourites comes from Cosmos_Null, who simply says “Sora’s mom”. Outside of one brief cutscene where we hear her call Sora down for dinner, she’s never been brought up again despite everyone eventually returning to the Destiny Islands.

Those highlights are just scratching the surface of all the topics discussed by Kingdom Hearts fans, but even a quick look through shows just how many things have gone unanswered over the years. Here’s hoping Kingdom Hearts 4 sheds some light on the Black Box, Riku’s new Keyblade, Yozora’s identity, and, of course, who the heck is stuffing puppies into chests.
