Marvel Rivals almost definitely uses bots, whether it be to fill out Quickplay a bit more (unlikely with the game’s massive player base), or to make people feel a little better by steamrolling over a group of “people”. NetEase has never really confirmed or denied that bots are used in Quickplay, but too many times have players come up against other players with generic names and hidden stats for it to be a coincidence.
Bot matches are a bit of a contentious topic, with some arguing that bots should stick to AI modes, rather than be sneakily thrown into matches just because you lost a game or two. It can also be quite demoralizing to stomp on a group of players, only to remember you lost a couple of games previously and realize you were actually pitted against AI. It’s starting to wear players down a bit.
Marvel Rivals Players Think “Bot Matches” Are Getting Worse
In fact, some players think that Bot matches may have gotten even worse in recent weeks. It was believed that you’d need to lose a couple of games in a row to be thrown into a bot match, but players such as Reddit user HandsomeFred94, in a recent discussion about bot matches, claim that they went on a 15-game win streak, lost a match, and were immediately put up against bots in the next one.

There are plenty of other people claiming they were put up against bots after a single loss too, and the frequency of these matches is starting to instill a sense of paranoia among fans. This has led to calls from many for NetEase to give players an option to turn it off, or just scrap bots in Quickplay entirely. Some are even admitting they’ve been forced into Competitive to try and get away from them.
Thankfully, NetEase has shown that it’s willing to listen to player feedback, made evident by the upcoming changes to Jeff’s Ultimate and the nerfs for Hela and Hawkeye. If we make a big enough stink about bots ruining the Quickplay experience, then it increases the chance of NetEase actually doing something about it. Either that, or just stick to Competitive.
