Marvel Rivals Will End Matches If A Cheater Is Found

Summary

  • Marvel Rivals will pull you out of a game if it detects a cheater on either team.
  • The cheater is punished, but neither side receives a loss.
  • Players are pleased with how Netease is handling cheaters but want loss mitigation to be taken further.

Marvel Rivals players are having their matches brought to an abrupt end, as Netease goes after cheaters. As many players have found, a game will end mid-match if a cheater is detected, so you’re not stuck against a team with an unfair advantage.

Now, competitive games are being stopped as soon as the cheater is found, and the game isn’t included in your win/loss records. This means that, unlike with some other online games, you won’t have to put up with being put down a rank just because you got unlucky with the matchmaking.

Marvel Rivals Will Pull You Out Of A Match If Someone Is Cheating

So absolutely report those aimbots

Multiple players have shared this screen that they’re encountering in Marvel Rivals, telling them that the match has been terminated because of someone in the game using cheats. It also mentions that the cheater will be punished, and considering that there appears to be at least one case of a user being hit with a 100-year ban, it’s safe to assume that the punishment was a bit more than a slap on the wrist.

Players appear to be largely happy with this move and wish more online games would adopt the feature. However, some feel it should be rolled out wider, and include loss mitigation when someone leaves the team, or when someone goes AFK for a significant portion of the match. Alas, these are the risks we take with team-based shooters. At the very least, we should hopefully start to see fewer cheaters in games.

With that said, there is one group of people that players are still struggling with: griefers. Some have reported players who say they’re looking for teams, and will then proceed to throw every game the start. And because of how queuing in Marvel Rivals works, they can drag their teams into another match before anyone has the chance to leave the lobby, meaning that the leaver gets punished rather than the griefer. Many are calling on the devs to add a ready check, since then these bad-faith actors would only be able to throw one match, not multiple in a row.
