Perfect Dark Reboot Could Come To PlayStation 5

Summary

  • With Xbox continuing to pursue a multiplatform-based strategy, fans are constantly wondering what the next game to jump ship will be.
  • Recently, it was announced that it would be Forza Horizon 5 as rumors of Gears of War and Halo continue to swirl.
  • Now, via a job posting on LinkedIn, it appears that the Perfect Dark reboot will also be on non-Xbox consoles, as The Initiative is hiring someone with experience in multiplatform development.

Where there is smoke, there is usually a fire, and in the case of Xbox exclusives making their way beyond Microsoft’s flagship console, then things can best be described as a full-on blaze. In the almost year since the likes of Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves jumped ship, things have only expanded.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Forza Horizon 5 would be released on PlayStation 5 later this spring. Then, rumors began swirling about a Gears of War trilogy remaster that would also launch on PS5. This batch of news follows up previous rumors from January about Halo Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator also jumping ship.

Now, in the latest batch of rumors, it appears that the upcoming Perfect Dark reboot, which saw a re-reveal during last year’s Xbox’s Game Showcase, will also be released on multiple platforms.

Joanna Dark, Welcome To PlayStation

As first spotted on Reddit’s Gaming Leaks And Rumours subreddit, a new job posting on LinkedIn for a Principal Graphics Engineer at The Initiative — the studio currently working on Perfect Dark — has been created.

On its own, the posting isn’t all too interesting, but the real juicy information lies within the Responsibilities and Preferred Experience sections. In the former, it’s written that the hire will “Optimize and ensure the scalability of the rendering features to support multiple platforms and quality settings.”

Meanwhile, in the latter, it is listed that someone with “Experience with multi-platform development” is being sought after. All of that shouldn’t be too surprising given that Phil Spencer intimated that no game was off limits for a PS5 port back in November. Most recently, Spencer shared that the Switch 2 will be supported by Xbox games, while also not ruling out a Starfield port in a separate interview. In other words, Perfect Dark looks to be following the course that’s been charted.
