Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed the return of Sega Racing Classic 2: Battle on the Edge, which will be playable within Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii when it releases later this month. A spinoff featuring franchise legend Goro Majima in the lead role, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will take fans on a swashbuckling pirate adventure in and around Hawaii, and will give players the chance to build their own pirate crews and take part in epic naval ship battles.
Originally known as Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge, Sega Racing Classic 2 was released in 1998 exclusively on Sega Model 3 arcade machines. The beloved Sega racing game was never able to make it onto Sega’s popular Dreamcast console at the time, but it got another chance to shine as part of the Yakuza franchise 25 years later when it was included in 2023’s Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Unfortunately, Sega Racing Classic 2 was left out of last year’s hit RPG entry, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, understandably so, considering just how many new minigames and side activities were introduced, like Dondoko Island and Sujimon League.

Since Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is confirmed to be using parts of Infinite Wealth‘s Hawaii map, players should be able to expect to find the arcades in the same locations they were in during Ichiban Kasuga’s jaunt in Honolulu. Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is also adding an all-new location in Madlantis, a flashy pirate hub of sorts.
