Pokemon Adds Mini Premier Balls To Its Wand Company Replicas

Key Takeaways

  • Pokemon has released the mini Premier Ball replica it revealed back in January.
  • The Premier Ball was one of five mini Wand Company designs that were all revealed at once.
  • Now the Premier Ball has been released, the mini Cherish Ball is the only one of the five that’s still not available to buy.

Unfortunately, Pokemon aren’t real. Sure, there’s Pokemon Go, but even that can’t replicate the feeling of holding a real Poke Ball in your hand. The Pokemon Company has that base covered too though as there has been a way to replicate that feeling for a while via The Wand Company’s replica collection, and today, that collection has grown.

Pokemon has been working with The Wand Company for years on its die-cast Poke Ball replicas, turning various designs featured throughout the games and the anime into meticulously crafted collectibles. In January of this year, Pokemon announced it would be releasing miniature versions of some of The Wand Company’s designs. Great not only because they’re cheaper than the full size options, but also because Poke Balls are a lot smaller most of the time while being stored.

The Premier Ball is unique for not being unique at all. Whereas most other Poke Ball designs bring something special to the table, the only difference between a normal Poke Ball and a Premier Ball is its design. Saved for special events in Pokemon canon, the Premier Ball is white all over aside from the line running around the middle. It was introduced to the series in Gen 3 when trainers would be given one as a bonus for buying ten Poke Balls.

As for the Premier Ball’s die-cast replica, while it’s not recommended you throw it around, the ball is interactive. A light on the front will illuminate when you move your hand close to it, and the color of the light will change the closer you get. Press the button on the front of the ball and you will start what Pokemon calls a catching sequence. The Premier Ball comes with a black stand or a silver-plated token, both of which can be used to display the collectible.

The Wand Company has started to create miniature versions of its officially licensed die-cast replica Poke Balls. The sleek red and white Premier Ball, part of Pokemon’s world since Gen 3, has now joined the mini collection. All the same interactive elements as the other mini Poke Balls and two stand options are included for display purposes.

Now that the mini Premier Ball is here, the mini Cherish Ball is the only one of the five from January’s reveal that still isn’t available to buy. If you don’t like any of the mini designs, or you have them all and want to expand your collection, there are a lot more options in the full size Wand Company collection. The latest addition was a Beast Ball, released earlier this year and still in stock at the Pokemon Center.
