Probably one of the most joyous moments for PS5 users was opening Astro’s Playroom for the first time. In what would be the predecessor to the critically acclaimed game Astro Bot, the free pack-in title was an exceptional way for players to get familiar with the consoles new hardware. Since launch, Team Asobi has issued small updates to the game, some of which actually added new content. This seems to be the case today for its random new update.
Astro’s Playroom gacha machine adds PS5 Pro
As pinpointed by X user Radec, Astro’s Playroom received a brand new update. Initially, it was unknown what the update actually did beyond revise the cover art and wallpaper during boot-up. However, it seems actual new content was added to the pack-in. It’s not much, but it will surely excite PS5 users for a moment.

Another post from Radec revealed exactly what the new Astro’s Playroom update did. Available in the game’s gacha machine, players can now add the recently released PS5 Pro to the little robots Secret Labo. Like the PS5 that sits next to it in Astro’s little showroom, it towers over all the robots. It is well detailed, featuring all the ports and parts anyone would expect to see on the actual console.
Team Asobi has been updating the game with new Artifacts — which is how Astro’s Playroom refers to the collectible PlayStation accessories — since it launched with the PS5. Other accessories that were added include the PlayStation Portal and Pulse Explore Wireless Earbuds.
It would be surprising if a PS5 user has not played it by now, but to those that haven’t, Astro’s Playroom is totally free and worth the four to five hours to complete it. For all the trophy hunters, it is an incredibly easy Platinum to obtain.
