The Russo Brothers Open To Making Games Tied To The New Marvel’s Avengers Movies

Joe and Anthony Russo, the co-directors behind a number of major Marvel films including Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame, have revealed they are open to having games developed based on the next slew of Avengers movies via their production company AGBO.

The Russo Brothers are behind the next batch of Avenges films, namely 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Furthermore, AGBO recently aided Netflix in creating a tie-in mobile game for their latest project, The Electric State.

Speaking with Variety, the Russos didn’t rule out the possibility of creating games based on the Avengers property, but for the time being are focussed on creating new IP. The due also talked about the addition of Fortnite mastermind Donald Mustard as a partner at AGBO following his departure from Epic Games.

We would definitely be open to it. Right now, what we’re doing is creating new IP.

We have a new partner at the company who is one of the greatest game developers in history, Donald Mustard, he’s the creator of Fortnite, and he’s come in now to work with us on building out what we think the future of storytelling could be, which is, some hybrid between linear and virtual and gaming. And we’re really interested in new ways to tell stories using technology.

Crystal Dynamics developed Marvel’s Avengers for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One back in 2020, although this was unrelated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and did not use the likeness of the movies’ actors for Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow etc.
