If you got the good ending in The Witcher 3 and its DLCs, you already knew what you were in for in the next installment. Geralt presented Ciri with her own silver sword, officially making her a Witcher – even if she didn’t undergo the Trial of Grasses – and retired with Yennefer at his wine estate in Toussaint.

The Witcher 4 Must Stay True To Ciri’s Queerness
I hope CD Projekt Red’s upcoming sequel explores Ciri’s identity as a bisexual woman.
As expected and embraced by almost everyone, Ciri has officially been confirmed as the protagonist in The Witcher 4, with old man Geralt taking a well-earned back seat. While there has been a negligible murmur about Ciri taking on the mantle, there has been overwhelming support from fans for our girl. Even the actor behind her father-figure is rooting for her.
Doug Cockle Loves The Idea Of Ciri As The Protagonist Of The Witcher 4
“I’m really excited,” said Geralt actor Doug Cockle in an interview with IGN. “I think it’s a really good move. I mean, I always thought that continuing the Saga, but shifting to Ciri would be a really, really interesting move for all kinds of reasons, but mostly because of things that happen in the books, which I don’t want to give away because people, I want people to go read. So yeah, I think it’s really exciting. I can’t wait. I can’t wait to see what they’ve done.”
CD Projekt Red already knew that there would be at least some controversy when Ciri was revealed as the protagonist of The Witcher 4, even though the previous title set it up.
“I think we definitely knew it could be controversial for some people because, of course, in the previous three Witcher games, Geralt was the protagonist and I think everyone really loved playing as Geralt,” said narrative director Phillip Weber last month. “I really loved playing as Geralt, so I think we’re aware that if some people think right now that they would still prefer to be Geralt, I do think that’s a legitimate concern, so if this is where that concern is coming from, that’s valid.”
The reality is that a vast majority of fans can’t wait to see Ciri as a Witcher and are curious to see how the devs have handled her powers.
