The commercial failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and MultiVersus were partly to blame for the cancellation of Monolith Productions‘ Wonder Woman game, according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier.
Speaking on the Kinda Funny podcast, the journalist reflected on the leadership of David Haddad at WB Games, which saw Monolith Productions’ new IP cancelled and the resignation of a number of studio directors. It then shifted development to Wonder Woman, and as previously reported, had trouble integrating the Nemesis system into the game and then rebooted the project.

However, Schreier notes that a string of flops at WB Games including the $200 million failure of Suicide Squad contributed to the decision to put the kibosh on Wonder Woman, too.
But by then, it was kind of too late especially because last year was so bad for the Warner Brothers Games organization. Last year Suicide Squad was a humungous flop – they wrote off $200 million because of that. MultiVersus and Quidditch Champions, also both flops, [they] wrote off another $100 million because of that.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was released in February 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, but marked a major departure for Rocksteady Studios, as it moved away from the single-player adventure template it’s known for and instead adopted a live service model.
