PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Video Has Reignited Bloodborne Remake Hopes

Key Takeaways

  • Bloodborne fans have had their hopes raised for a remaster yet again, thanks to PlayStation’s new 30th anniversary video.
  • The video ends with a short clip of Bloodborne with the phrase “It’s About Persistence” alongside it, which some think is a teaser.
  • With the rumored date of December 3 right around the corner, and The Game Awards a little later on, will we finally have our hopes and prayers answered?

Bloodborne fans have had a real rollercoaster of a week, as after years of waiting and wanting, hopes for a remake or remaster announcement have never been higher. It all started when fans discovered that Bloodborne’s servers are going down for maintenance on December 3, the same day as PlayStation’s 30th anniversary and the rumored date of a PlayStation event.

That was enough to inject some hope back into a community that has been let down time and time again, though those hopes were thoroughly dashed by reliable PlayStation insider Jeff Grubb. Following the discovery of this maintenance, Grubb promised Bloodborne fans that it’s going to be “nothing”, suggesting that it’s nothing to get excited about.

PlayStation’s 30th Anniversary Trailer Has Reignited Bloodborne Remake Hopes

It seemed like that was going to be the end of the story until the day came, but PlayStation itself has now raised hopes once again with a new trailer for the platform’s 30th anniversary. In the trailer (which you can watch above), PlayStation celebrates a bunch of titles that have been released over the years, showing a clip of each one with the phrase “It’s About…” alongside it, differing depending on the game.

For example, a clip of Uncharted shows up along with the phrase “It’s About Adventure”, while a clip of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth shows up with the phrase “It’s About Fantasy” alongside it. The part that is getting Bloodborne fans all in a tizzy is right at the end, as the final clip of the trailer is Bloodborne with the phrase “It’s About Persistence”.

Now, this could be absolutely nothing, but it’s very rare that PlayStation even acknowledges Bloodborne at all these days. A lot of people are also taking the word “persistence” as a little nod to the many fans calling for a Bloodborne remake/remaster for literal years. Coupled with the recent rumors, many are now taking this as a teaser for something big.

If we’re using our heads, the word “persistence” is most likely used because Bloodborne is a difficult game, and you need to actually persist to beat it. However, the Bloodborne fan in me is screaming at the top of his lungs that this is PlayStation being cheeky and to expect our long wait to finally be over later this week. Time to get the clown makeup out again.
