Black Ops 6 Angers Fans With Response to Hit Registration Issues

Key Takeaways

  • Activision dismisses Black Ops 6 hit registration complaints as “erroneous blood effects,” upsetting fans.
  • The Call of Duty community accuses Activision of “gaslighting” about hit registration problems.
  • Warzone players have also been affected by the issue since Black Ops 6’s integration.

Call of Duty publisher Activision has angered fans with its response to Black Ops 6 and Warzone‘s hit registration complaints, claiming that an issue resulting in “erroneous blood effects” when shots were being missed is the real problem, but fans aren’t convinced. Black Ops 6 is the latest Call of Duty title to launch with a myriad of bugs and gameplay issues, but fans now believe that Activision is “gaslighting” the community over the title’s biggest matter.

Despite ongoing complaints surrounding UI bugs and incorrect XP, Black Ops 6 has had the biggest launch in Call of Duty history, according to Activision. Last month, the studio took to Twitter to thank fans as Black Ops 6 had broken numerous records for the Call of Duty series, racking up the highest number of total players, hours played, and total matches in the first 30 days from launch. To celebrate, developer Treyarch Studios kicked off a massive double XP event from November 27 to December 2, giving fans the chance to earn twice the amount of player and weapon XP, as well as double gobblegums in Zombies.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Responds to Hit Registration Issues

Unfortunately for Treyarch, Black Ops 6‘s double XP event and massive playlist update weren’t enough to make fans forget about the shooter’s ongoing hit registration issues. Since the game’s launch on October 25, players have reported numerous issues with Black Ops 6‘s hit registration. While not everyone may have experienced the issue, many claim that their shots are not connecting with their opponents, despite being accurate and on target. Now, in a new statement on Twitter, Activision claims that this was a result of “erroneous visual blood effects,” as opposed to an issue with the game’s hit registration.

As expected, the studio’s dismissal of Black Ops 6‘s hit registration issues has angered the entire community. After being viewed more than two million times and counting, fans believe Activision is “gaslighting” players into thinking that there are no issues with hit registration and that it was actually due to blood effects appearing from enemies when shots are being missed. Content creator Westie said that it is “becoming really tiresome,” while Loochy said, “I’m sorry but I’m not gonna be gaslit into thinking the ‘erroneous visual blood effects’ are to blame.”

The issue isn’t just confined to Black Ops 6 either, as Warzone players are also encountering the same experiences in the free-to-play battle royale title. YouTuber FlexZ even responded with a clip asking the studio to explain how there is not an obvious hit registration issue with the game. In the clip, the content creator can be seen hitting multiple shots directly on target but did not receive a single hit marker. Only time will tell whether or not the immense backlash from the community will result in a further statement from the studio.
