Over the last few years, Call of Duty has become way more than just a shooter. While the campaigns have more or less stayed the same, including that of Black Ops 6, it’s mostly in the multiplayer modes that new innovations and ideas have shined. Fortnite has predominantly led the way in terms of crossovers, but Call of Duty has followed suit in its own way as well.

Squid Game: The Challenge is a whole lot of fun, and it still should never have been made. Neither should this upcoming game
This mostly comes in the form of game modes, skins, and operators, but every so often, we get a crossover with another major IP that’s not limited to cosmetics. This could be in the form of an in-game event, limited-time game mode, or something else. Only a few hours ago, Call of Duty announced a crossover with the hit Netflix series Squid Game.
Red Camo, Green Camo
Squid Game was a massive hit when it came out in 2021. It’s also among the peak Covid-era pieces of content that we got, so it has some staying power. With season two of the South Korean show set to release on December 26, the two have come together for a collaboration within the game. A short teaser was revealed for the collaboration, which will arrive sometime in January 2025.
The trailer reveals an operator picking a piece of paper off a freshly killed corpse, with the trademark circle, triangle and square drawn on it. This leads to the Call of Duty logo appearing in the same format as the Squid Game logo. We don’t have any more information on this as of now.
Simply adding the red suits from the show to the game would be quite a let-down after this trailer. If we’re being hopeful, we want to see Call of Duty players playing Red Light Green Light, crossing a glass bridge, and playing other deadly games that we saw in the show. It will make for a great limited-time event, and will undoubtedly get some players to check out the show.
Black Ops 6 recently added Prop Hunt to its list of game modes. While the format is popular with players across various games, it seems COD players aren’t too happy with this one. It seems the hunters have unlimited ammo, so they can wildly spray locations and get lucky by hitting props. Hopefully, Activision will be making some changes soon.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
