New Line of Adorable Pokemon Clothes Coming to Uniqlo

Summary

  • Uniqlo offers affordable otaku fashion with new Pokemon collection in UT line.
  • “Pokemon Sketch” collection features simple designs on comfy unisex t-shirts.
  • The collection includes seven total designs for adults and children, set to release internationally.

The Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo has been releasing more and more anime and gaming shirts over the past few years as part of the company’s UT collections. Luckily for international fans, most of the clothing lines make it to the store’s international locations as well. Anyone lucky enough to live near Uniqlo around the world can get official otaku fashion at affordable prices. The latest otaku collection has been released for the UT, focusing on the best-selling franchise of none-other-than Pokémon.

This is far from Uniqlo’s first Pokémon range of clothing, and it is unlikely to be its last. That doesn’t stop Pokemon fans both in Japan and abroad from being excited, though, and people are more than happy to add more reasonably priced, comfy t-shirts to their collections, especially when they feature their favorite characters. This latest Pokemon collection is called “Pokémon Sketch,” and is focused on sketched artwork of some of the franchise’s most popular characters.

The Idea Behind the Name

Pokémon Sketch” is the name of the latest line of Pokemon-themed clothing coming to Uniqlo. The catchphrase of the collection is “Let’s have fun every day with Pokémon,” which reflects the style of the clothing. All the clothes in this line are comfy t-shirts with a unisex cut for adults and children. They are meant to be worn any time by anyone, letting Pokemon fans bring a bit of happiness and Pokémon fun into whatever it is they are doing.

The official Uniqlo website describes “Pokémon Sketch” as (translated from Japanese),

Pikachu and other unique Pokémon have once again gathered at UT. With special sketch-like designs depicting Pokémon in both calm and energetic forms, with cute phrases to match, this collection is easy for anyone to wear.

Indeed, all the designs are simple, featuring one Pokémon along with a simple English phrase. The shirts come in a few different colors and designs, with adult shirts priced at 1,500 yen ($9.60 USD) and children’s sizes at 990 yen ($6.40 USD). Keep in mind that these are the prices on the Japanese site, and may vary by country when the shirts are released.

All the Upcoming Designs

There are seven total designs in the “Pokémon Sketch” collection, with three unique designs for adults and three for children, and one matching design for both. Predictably, the matching design features Pikachu, and is also featured on the top of the website. The design has Pikachu sleeping along with the words “Pikachu is recharging” on a white background.

In the adult collection, there are three more unique designs. The first has three different Meowth designs – its original form, its Alolan form, and its Galarian form, along with the word “Pokémon” on a white shirt. The second is a green shirt with Mimikyu, along with the phrase “Its actual appearance is unknown.” The last exclusive shirt for adults is black, reading “starry night, silvery moonlight” on the front and featuring Umbreon on the back. All the designs also include the Pokémon’s Pokédex number.

The children’s collection also features three special designs. The first features a monochrome Ceruledge on a black t-shirt that simply says “Pokémon.” The second is a bright purple shirt with a tiny Gengar on the front, and a much larger Gengar on the back along with the phrase “Watch out for the shadows.” Finally, the last shirt is a light blue with Glaceon, along with the Pokémon’s Pokédex number.

Keeping with the theme, all the designs are done in a sketched drawing style. The whole “Pokémon Sketch” collection is scheduled to go on sale in late March in Japan, and hopefully not long after internationally. There has been no news stating that the collection will be exclusive to any one country at this time, so hopefully, it will be coming to Uniqlo wherever you live sometime this spring – or at the very least, you will be able to order your favorite Pokemon design online from your domestic website.
