Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii: How to Get Free Healing Items

While purchasing healing items in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii gets expensive quickly, gardening and cooking make it easy to earn free healing items. The usual Tauriner, Toughness, and Staminan consumables in the series are available right in Chapter 1, but they cost a lot of cash when, in the early game, you should be saving money for additional skills and various upgrades like rings. Fortunately, gardening allows you to collect ingredients that can then be turned into powerful healing items through cooking. Here’s where to get easy free healing items in Pirate Yakuza.

How to earn free healing items in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Gardening and cooking, which unlock early in Chapter 1, is the easiest way to earn free healing items in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

We were able to unlock nearly every cooking recipe before Chapter 1.

To keep things relatively spoiler-free, Goro Majima is introduced to gardening and cooking within the first hour of the game through the main story. Throughout the starter island, there will be six planters (well, three sets of two planters) where he can plant seedlings that will quickly grow into plants.

After learning how to cook, Majima will receive plenty of starter seedlings, and he can find extras by picking up random items (specifically, those white shiny pickups). By returning to the planters, he’ll receive a lot of produce and herbs, particularly from the basic potato seeds.

To earn different types of ingredients, Majima can enter the ocean and catch fish while swimming. He can also collect meat and eggs by periodically feeding two pets that he’ll get access to in the first chapter. One particular pet who follows Majima around will occasionally give him meat and bugs too.

With all of these ingredients, Majima can begin cooking many recipes, starting from the stir-fried veggie bento. In fact, you should have enough ingredients to increase Majima’s cooking skill to 20 or higher before Chapter 1 is over, which unlocks all but one recipe.

Better yet, if you’re good with the cooking mini-games, you’ll earn two-star dishes that grant much more healing. All told, we were able to create more than 20 stir-fried veggie bentos and 15 other dishes in the first two chapters, which makes getting through boss fights a breeze.
