During last year’s Warcraft Direct, World of Warcraft introduced Patch 11.1, Undermined. The content update, currently available on the Public Test Realm, brings players to the underground Goblin metropolis of Undermine, where they will continue the fight against Xal’atath and Gallywix as their schemes involving the damaged Dark Heart collide.

World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 Adds ‘Preview’ of Player Housing

World of Warcraft adds a fun ‘teaser’ for player housing in Patch 11.1 that can hopefully tide them over until the full feature arrives in Midnight.

Now, World of Warcraft has shared an official blog post previewing Undermine. The zone-sized city features many points of interest, including the Incontinental Hotel hub, where fans will begin their adventures in Undermine, and Slam Central Station, which connects to areas all over the World of Warcraft map. The Demolition Dome is home to The War Within’s new PvP Arena, the Cage of Carnage, while The Gallagio is the final stop of the Liberation of Undermine raid.

Undermine – WoW: The War Within Patch 11.1 Zone

While in Undermine, adventurers can ally with one of the four major Goblin Cartels each week. The Bilgewater are a group of tinkers and inventors led by Monte Gazlowe out of the Bilgewater Flats, while the Blackwater, led by Baron Revilgaz, are former pirates turned vacation and shipping specialists who operate out of Blackwater Marina. The alchemists of Steamwheedle, led by Marin Noggenfogger in The Vatworks, and the Venture Co. acquisitions experts led by Grimla Fizzlecrank in The Heaps, round out the factions – though a secret fifth Cartel has been teased as well. Like The Severed Threads in World of Warcraft: The War Within, each of these Cartels makes up the Cartels of Undermine Renown faction, which includes stellar rewards like The Topskimmer Special rocket mount.

Outside Undermine, players can also challenge the new Operation: Floodgate dungeon in the Ringing Deeps. This four-boss instance has fans facing off against Gallywix’s goons and enraged flora and fauna as they seek to stop Geezle Gigazap from blowing up The Waterworks and flooding the entire zone.

Operation: Floodgate Bosses

  • Big M.O.M.M.A – a prototype mech infused with Black Blood, piloted by Darkfuse enforcer Silva Stratospark.
  • Demolition Duo – Keeza Quickfuse and Bront, the brain and brawn behind the “explosive restructuring” of The Waterworks.
  • Swampface – a muddy plant monster awakened by Gallywix’s lackeys.
  • Geezle Gigazap – the electrified mastermind of “THE PROJECT.”

To start the When Opportunity Explodes quest from Gazlowe at the Foundation Hall that leads to the Patch 11.1 campaign and Undermine itself, players must first complete the level-up campaign of The War Within. While the max level campaign and subsequent Lingering Shadows chapter from World of Warcraft Patch 11.0.7 bridge the gap into the 11.1 story, fans will not actually need to finish them in order to enjoy the new content once it arrives – likely on either February 18 or 25.
