The Legend of Zelda Remaster And 3D Mario Listed As 2025 Releases By Retailer

Summary

  • An online retailer seems to have included a new 3D Mario game and a Legend of Zelda remake/remaster as games launching on Nintendo Switch in 2025.
  • Online retailer Newegg included both in the description of a listing for a Nintendo eShop voucher, claiming it can be used to buy both, despite them being unannounced.
  • It’s possible this could be some prediction’s a Newegg’s part, rather than anything concrete, but we only have to wait until the Nintendo Direct on April 2 to find out.

Nintendo Switch 2 is just on the horizon, if certain rumors are to be believed, and we got a decent look at the system itself during Nintendo’s big reveal earlier this month. We still don’t know what Nintendo is going to do when it comes to the system’s first-party lineup though, and while Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and a new Mario Kart have all been confirmed, the system doesn’t currently have a massive flagship title to launch with.

We can only really guess at what that could possibly be, with a Nintendo Direct focused on the Switch 2 coming in April, but it’s possible that one online retailer may have jumped the gun. First spotted by Insider Gaming, an online retailer called Newegg has included a new 3D Mario game, as well as a Legend of Zelda remaster/remake, as part of the catalog of Nintendo Switch games launching in 2025.

The listing itself is for a Nintendo eShop voucher, and includes a short list of games that it can be used to purchase throughout 2025. Metroid Prime, Pokemon, and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition are all listed, as were the aforementioned Mario and Zelda games. If you check right now, it appears as though the description has been edited, but Insider Gaming captured a screenshot of those games included in the list.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Was Always Going To Be Boring

People are dunking on Nintendo’s new console when they’ve seen nothing but a reveal trailer.

It really is worth mentioning that this could very well be absolutely nothing. I’m sure pretty much all of you reading expects Nintendo to do something Mario and Zelda-related with the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point, and this could be Newegg just assuming that those particular games will be announced in 2025 eventually.

A 3D Mario has been a long time coming, with the last one being Mario Odyssey all the way back in 2018, while rumors of a remake/remaster of a game from The Legend of Zelda franchise have been everpresent for a good couple of years, ever since insiders claimed Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remasters were in the works. Whether or not we’ll actually see them announced, we’ll have to wait until April 2 to find out.
